Balsam Ltd is a dietary supplement producer, which focuses on natural solutions and creates pills, based on plant extracts. The mission of the brand is to make the world a more healthy place by implementing natural pharmaceutical solutions. Pills by Balsam are useful for people, who care about their health condition but prefer only natural solutions. The main market of the product is the Central Asian country – Uzbekistan. Later on, Balsam is considering scaling up to other countries of the region, such as Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, and others.
That is why Balsam wanted us to create a design, which could become an effective method of communication for the product’s audience. It had to be bright, unusual, practical, and creative. The goal was to make a modern, bright and simple packaging design, which can stand out. In order to show the natural methods of Balsam Ltd, we used leaf vectors which also symbolized extracting method used by Balsam. We also got rid of many unnecessary elements which Balsam used in their packaging before: no more silly photos of plants, more space, and optimistic colours. uMoreover, we used colours and icons to simplify consumers’ navigation – so that they could easily find a product that they were looking for. For pills, that cure flu symptom, we took bright yellow and orange: colors of hotness and warmth. Violet and purple – for the immune system, blue for fitness, and so on.
Other packs were also tagged with their own, specific colors. Every color was chosen in cooperation with the Brand. We wanted to make our packaging intuitively understandable so that anyone could identify the purpose of the pills just by looking at the colors.
When the job was done, Brand got the design that matched its requirements: it was attractive, bright, interesting, understandable, and creative. We believe that the pharmaceutical market needs a more optimistic design – it supports people in tough days, helps them to keep it up, and makes the medical atmosphere better. Now, Balsam’s design became more modern, minimalistic, and bright.
