JxL Creative Design Branding for Vialed Hair Oils Products

Inspired by tabletop games and their demand for creativity, Vialed products blend reality with worlds crafted from imagination and gives their consumers a sense of belonging. Vialed products aid in the story telling by adding a sense of smell linked to the fantasy environments of the game.

JxL Creative had the task of modernising the fantasy tabletop gaming industry while preserving the extraordinary elements that define it. Vialed’s word mark is simple, while the icon resembles an actual vial and moon in a fantasy style. We added a gradient to the icon to show depth and lighting. Our primary logo is just white, but changes colour per product based on the scent. The hair oils are meant to look like potions using gradient coloured tincture bottles allowing the yellow oil to shine through the top half. They currently have three scents: Mystic Woodland, Oceanic Abyss, and Radiant Wildfire; which we match with green, blue and red gradient bottles. We use photography of the environments masked in the icon on the secondary packaging to link a sense of place to the scent name. The packaging for the candle is in a reusable branded dice bag instead of using a secondary box for protection. We chose a dice bag because each candle comes with a colour coordinated metal dice that could be used in the games. Our candle vessel is also matte black and minimal to be used for many other purposes after the candle is used. The reason we used dark, simple designs is to spark a sense of mystery and curiosity of the people who see it. Our photography is a mix of our products in environments, product textures and in situation on a gaming table. Overall, our design is very minimal with a lot of contrast to stand out from the other competitors in this tabletop gaming space.

Vialed products are not just for gamers. Vialed uses organic ingredients for their hair elixirs and non-toxic waxes (soy, coconut and palm) so that their products appeal to everyone. Vialed is meant for the “nerd” in all of us, embracing who we truly are. They are more than a product line, they are a community with no bounds.
