Ginebra de Juanita Mexican Corn-Based Dry Gin Packaging Design By Cuic

Ginebra de Juanita is a Mexican corn-based dry gin, distilled in copper alembic. The brand, with its name honors Juanita, a woman who during the prohibition era created unique recipes to prepare Gin with alchemical bases in Tijuana Mexico, same bases with which this gin is prepared in Jalisco. The project was born in Guadalajara when Diego, the owner, saw the opportunity to replicate Juanita’s recipes in a modern era Gin as a college project, the beverage was an immediate success, and little by little it expanded to various stores and wineries in Jalisco, until it reached many restaurants and grocery markets all around Mexico, the Gin will be also available in Spain next year. With all the growth of the brand, Diego and its business partners approached to us looking for a new and fresh image for Juanita, since they were using the same image that Diego created for his school project. After a lot of research of who Juanita was, and the alchemy bases that she used, we could create a concept that unites alchemy with the Mexican culture; the corn with which this Gin is prepared is the guiding concept of the brand, Mayan legend tells that the man was created with yellow corn after a lot of failed attempts with different materials, that’s way you can see the three main alchemy symbols in the front of the bottle, meaning body, soul and spirit, reprinting the essence of humanity in the yellow corn with which the beverage is made.

The brand with its packaging is inspired in vintage drugstore labels, adding a contemporary touch with a sans serif font present in all the branding, plus alchemy symbols and the illustration of Juanita as a stamp, the color pallet has the intention of being memorable and direct, with the combination of dark blue and yellow, the brand acquires a modern and fresh touch. A the side of the bottle you can find Diego’s signature along with his description of the Gin, giving the brand a human touch and adding mystery along with the other symbols and illustrations.
