CF Napa’s Design for Tank Series Canned Wine

The desert ecosystem of the southwest is a place of stark contrast—a seemingly harsh and inhospitable environment that miraculously swells with colorful beauty and diverse life. Aridus Wine Company makes its home amid this unforgiving landscape of the Wilcox American Viticultural Area in southeastern Arizona. The name of the wine company, “Aridus” is Latin for dry, echoing the unforgiving nature of the climate in which the winery calls home. Surrounded by majestic mountains, the area’s semi-arid climate is similar to the famous wine regions of Argentina in the southern hemisphere.

After developing the logo and label packaging for Aridus Wine Company’s main line of wines, CF Napa Brand Design was called on by the company to develop a new canned wine brand, Tank Series, that was ready for the outdoors and positioned to be fun and approachable. The new, Millennial-aimed brand was to feature a collection of wines hand-selected by the winemaker. The grapes for the brand’s wines were sourced from all around the southwest – including Arizona, New Mexico and California.

To connect the canned wines to their roots in the southwestern United States, CF Napa Brand Design created graphic, minimalist-style illustrations that depict the picturesque, rocky landscape for which Arizona is famous. Every varietal has its own unique, jagged mountain landscape and color palette inspired by the natural landscape of the desert. While the can packaging for every varietal stands beautifully on its own, gathering all of the varietals together aligns the in-house illustrations of the canyons and peaks to create one continuous panorama of chromatic Arizona desert-scape. Each varietal in the collection has a unique number printed on the front of the can. This number on the can links that particular wine and vintage back to its stainless-steel tank at the winery. The custom logotype takes center stage with a TS monogram adding a touch of modern class. The cans contain 375ml of wine – an easy way to carry along a ½ bottle of wine on your next adventure!
