The year of the pandemic immerses us in a different atmosphere, being isolated at home and thinking about our loved ones and personal goals. This is how Arde emerged as a family business, after many years of planning. Candles are the starting point to mark unique experiences in one’s life, since it is the aroma and sharing the experience that generates these moments and memories.

Arde (Burn), moments and memories. Scented soy candles that celebrate fire, handmade in a workshop in Lima, Peru. Through a selection of aromas and textures, it collects your day as experiences. With a diverse range of various candles such as “Era Primavera” (Spring Time) or “En el Camino” (On the road) mixing scents like eucalyptus, palo santo, moss, mint and others. The core brand message is to set an intention and light the fire.

The visual approach for this project begins with understanding fire as an elemental celebration and a craft process that could trace back to the origin of humankind. In that sense, the packaging system explores the need of the brand to communicate and make a statement. With a name as impressive as Arde (Burn), the use of typography is essential to stand out and provide a clear image. The box represents this quality, with the support of a monospaced typeface as complement to the display sans serif of the main titles and logotype. On the other hand, the label showcases the layout system, as well as the typographic selection in a grid constructed composition. Offset printing provides an analog texture to the design, adding random small organic forms of ink to the type.

The product has already been launched and is currently available via online shopping and social media. The brand’s success is based on the digital campaign as well as the loyalty of the target audiences. Due to increasing growth the next step is expanding throughout Latin America. Likewise, In addition, the design has been featured on various outlets such as Dieline, Packaging of the World and Fonts in Use.
