I was approached to help with a start-up company that makes craft cider sourced from local apples found across Ayrshire.

The guys have all been friends for many years and share a love for craft cider and after years of making small batches for friends and family, they decided to make a push for it and try and get the business up and running and target the larger market.

For some of the guys, it’s a hobby they wish to turn into a full time job with a mix of old and new blood they have the perfect mix to make something happen.

This year’s batch will go back to the residents that helped them out with the unwanted fruit. Along with cider apple cider, they also make yellow and red pear cider.

The ARC had a mixed vision, to begin with, so it was a task at first to nail down a route to take, but once we agreed on the right plan it was smooth sailing from there. We decided to explore two routes:
1. Reflecting the coastline of Ayrshire
2. More organic handmade feel to reflect the handmade process.

I went with a hand-made typeface to reflect the hands-on approach the guys have towards making their cider. I also created 4 marks to help with the branding to give it a wide range of flexibility, the logo can be placed on top of the bottle lids or used as a stamp. the marks all reflect the core values of handmade at heart.

For the advertising, We plan to keep it minimal and let the cider do the talking with the bold design on the bottle and a simple message next to it i feel will do more than enough to capture the audience’s attention

I’m really pleased with how the project turned out as a whole. It was great fun to explore different routes and themes. I’ve been dying to get my hands on a project like this for a while and hopefully more will come from it.
