Zurzur project is a visual identity for a Romanian craft boutique offering ready-to-make wooden supplies. The store is online and offers wooden educational games and toys, decoration products, jewelry shapes, and many other awesome things that will make you enjoy every corner of the house. The meaning of the word “zurzur” is a wood that chuckles when worked with care.
The concept for this identity is a series of symbols which represent the shapes of just cut forms. From the typography choice, Pape’s intentions become clear; the project is not subscribing to minimalism, rather is lead with simplicity in mind. The result is striking, playful work that fits both aesthetic and functional, but importantly fun and original. Also, the color palette is warm and modern.
Pape is a Moldova-based design studio founded by Diana and Eugen Papeniuc, two experienced graphic designers that have a passion for typography. After partially working for big companies and studios, they grouped and leaped to start their studio. The studio works locally and internationally and produces a graphic output with a typography approach largely centered on brand identities and character design.
Pape looks for inspiration on a project-to-project basis, attempting to find an exact and concrete aesthetic that fits the brief. “Our ambition on each project is to build a visual derived from personality and peculiarities of the client project. We don’t run after trendy styles, we create timeless and contemporary design.”
