Symington Family Estates has started an environmental partnership with Rewilding Portugal, a not for profit organization that is pioneering a conservation strategy on a 120.000 hectare wildlife corridor in the Greater Côa Valley in northern Portugal. Their set of initiatives focus on the renaturalisation of the Valley, fighting to recover the habitat of keystone species but also on supporting the development of sustainable local businesses. Every sale of this Altano Rewilding Edition will contribute financial support to Rewilding Portugal’s efforts to protect and restore natural landscapes in the countries interior.

It was a privilege for Volta Studio to be invited to design this special edition label of Altano, as this project has a very noble objective. The request was to deliver a punchy, colourful and joyful image, that celebrated the Symington + Rewilding partnership and helped showcase the uniqueness of the local wildlife.

To achieve that, a fluid, dynamic and elegant illustration was created that shows the natural movement and imposing beauty of six of the Douro region’s iconic wild species: the elusive Iberian lynx, the mystical Iberian wolf, the indigenous horse Sorraia, the imposing red deer, the majestic Imperial eagle and the enigmatic Britango vulture.

Specially-blended and sourced from high altitude vineyards, the Altano Rewilding Edition is fresh, elegant, and fruit-driven — and is also available in a stunning bag-in-tube. Containing the equivalente of three bottles, this new format is easily recyclable, has a much lower carbon footprint than the equivalent volume in glass, and can be enjoyed for 4-6 weeks once opened.
