Viridiana Figueroa Designs Eclissi as a Sculptural Bluetooth Speaker With Light and Atmosphere

Eclissi is a Bluetooth speaker that integrates lighting and audio playback functions into a single device to offer a rich, multi-sensory and integral experience to the user. It operates via electrical current and includes a touch sensor on the back to control the lighting. This intuitive interface allows the user to switch between warm and cold light modes and to adjust the brightness by simply holding the sensor. On the front, a discreet physical button enables the user to pause or resume the music with ease.

The object’s geometry is based on a hemispherical shape, intentionally designed to project light radially and generate an immersive and ambient atmosphere. The upper dome of the speaker is perforated with a carefully crafted pattern that allows beams of light to escape in defined directions, casting elegant and dynamic shadows that enrich the visual presence of the device in any space. These perforations are not only functional but also contribute to the aesthetic identity of Eclissi, making it a sculptural element even when not in use.

From a conceptual standpoint, Eclissi contributes to contemporary design by rethinking the role of technological objects in our daily lives. It questions how devices—often cold, utilitarian, or visually invasive—can instead be seamlessly integrated into home environments while retaining personality and emotional value. Eclissi proposes a new way of inhabiting technology: one that is more sensitive, more accessible, and designed with the real user in mind. It balances functionality and emotion, delivering not only practical features like lighting and sound but also creating moments of visual and sensory delight.

Its name, Eclissi—which means “eclipse” in Italian—evokes the interplay between light and shadow, presence and absence, reinforcing its poetic approach to technology. It’s not just a gadget; it’s an experience that blends design, atmosphere, and interaction.
