Montel, is a brand of organic wines from the Douro region, Portugal. The vienyard is certified for the organic production of grapes from the bottle, which enhances all its unique characteristics and unique profile, combined with an average altitude of 650 meters giving rise to wines with a strong acidity. No synthetic products or animal products are used in winemaking.

We were asked to design the new labels for Montel bottles, since the brand needed to assert itself in the organic wine market and give more strength to this characteristic through the new image.

The Montel brand identity already existed, both the logo and old labels. So, to develop the new labels, we were inspired by the concept of the logo, a bird above the typography. The idea was to make this symbolism more real, more organic and closer to nature, highlighting the main characteristics of the wines.

For each bottle we design a bird that is on top of a wine strain, enhancing the organic textures and shapes. To add even more strength and depth to this image, we highlight the letter “O” foreground with a strong and vibrant color, which offers the composition contrast and strength.

In this way, we create a unique and memorable identity for the brand. We did not want this new image to become too heavy or traditional, but to bring freshness and some modernity, without forgetting the origins and values ​​of the brand. The result is a balance between typography and illustration, which captures our attention quickly.

An important project for us, as it was challenging to work on a label with an identity that was already rooted in the market, but that would have to get a total rupture of the old label.

This change was an important step for the customer, who was very satisfied with the result, as his sales increased and aroused the curiosity of new and potential customers.
