Toxo a state wine, tactile and artful.
A brand and a label that highlights the value of a plant such as the Toxo (native Galician gorse bush): with a sweet and friendly appearance and, at the same time, a sharp character. This same idea also fits with the personality of the entrepreneur winemaker, Olga Verde: as a child she was nicknamed “Toxiña” (meaning of: small toxo) comparing her temper to this very shrub.
The naming and sober label also fit with the sustainable origin of this red Mencía. It is a northwest Spanish varietal, and the design also expresses its character, as well as a sense of complexity and authenticity. Seeking to resonate with an audience fascinated by author wines such as this one. It was handcrafted, trying to convey the north from which it comes.
Its tasting describes it as fruity, fresh and wild; it is also floral and delicate, which is exactly what its design is about. We intended for the label and design to feel seductive, artistic and tactile.
The original collage by the Galician artist Pilar Alonso serves both as a poetic interpretation and as a starting point from which the label builds two levels of transmission: a lightly textured printed paper base with stamping finishings, and an overlay cutout of velvety black felt on top. The felt overlay also winemaker an elegant deboss with the winemaker’s stamp.
A unique label design composed of numerous techniques and finishes that recreate an aesthetic and tactile experience… to seduce all lovers of signature wines with finesse and subtleties.
