The Wine of the Sea – Packaging Design for This Underwater Aging Wine

Packaging design for this underwater aging wine. The aging of this wine is carried out in cages at the bottom of the sea, so numerous life adheres to the bottle, acquiring a lot of originality since each bottle is unique. This was also a handicap since we could not use a self-adhesive label due to the irregularities of each bottle. That is why we chose to make a label that was tied to the bottle with a rope that in turn also joins the little book that each bottle carries. For the label we used a vintage illustration in blue that represents a background with marine life and the name as well as the vintage and the winery in gold stamping. On the back of the label is the information about the wine as well as the manual numbering of each bottle using a stamp.
In the client’s briefing, we were explained how the production of this wine was and the requirements that it had to have, such as the sealing wax on the bottle, which was essential since the pressure to which the wine is subjected, any other type of closure could break. Also the handicap that each bottle is unique and that a lot of underwater life adheres, such as shells and small animals, therefore a self-adhesive label could not be used since it would not stick well due to all the irregularities that the animals that adhere give to the bottle. the bottle. With all this, the clearest thing we had was to tie the label in some way to the bottle that had to go along with the explanatory booklet. We opted for an esparto rope which is an element widely used by sailors and seafarers and at the same time creates a very original and premium effect.
