Makarounas Winery unveils its latest innovation: a new expression of Morokanella, one of Cyprus’ rarest and most distinctive indigenous white grape varieties. Organically cultivated in the winery’s family-owned vineyards, Morokanella reflects both a revival of ancestral traditions and a bold, forward-thinking approach to Cypriot winemaking. This vintage is fermented and aged in a concrete egg—an unconventional vessel selected for its ability to naturally regulate temperature, enhance texture, and promote micro-oxygenation, resulting in a wine with striking purity, complexity, and depth.

The wine reveals an elegant structure and a vibrant aromatic profile, balancing freshness with minerality. Its surface features a raw, tactile texture that mimics concrete, with a gradient fading from dark grey at the base to light grey, then clear at the neck—allowing a transparent view of the cork. No capsule is used, a conscious and sustainable decision that aligns with the winery’s environmental ethos and minimal intervention philosophy.
