In its most basic sense, the term contemporary art refers to art—namely, painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, and video art—produced today. Though seemingly simple, the details surrounding this definition are often a bit fuzzy, as different individuals’ interpretations of “today” may widely and wildly vary. Therefore, the exact starting point of the genre is still debated; however, many art historians consider the late 1960s or early 1970s (the end of modern art, or modernism) to be an adequate estimate.
Nowadays Contemporary Art Gallery appears quite a lot in Vietnam, but finding a place that both meets the modern expectations and the heritages of Traditional Art unite in one place is very hard to find. That’s the idea behind Fusion: Contemporary Gallery.
Fusion: Contemporary Gallery is a Vietnam-based gallery that has both permanent exhibition spaces, in order to showcase the finest of Vietnam Art through many historical eras and also spaces for artists to rent and host their own personal exhibitions.
The meaning of the name Fusion is close to combining, harmonizing. Our gallery valued the traditional and unique value of Vietnam Traditional Art, but we also appreciating and learning from the new – Contemporary Art.
