Filimonovskaya toy is a craft from the village of Filimonovo, which is known for bright yellow-pink toys. My goal was to track the development of the craft, to analyze the existing plots of toys. In the process of research, I visited the Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts and went to the homeland of toy craft.
Book consists of 6 chapters, which tell about prominent masters, history of development, craft technology and my view on a perspective of further development of the craft.
I have chosen two main colors of toys (pink and yellow) and implemented them in the book. The number of circles on the inside titles signifies the number of a chapter. Typeface used in the book is Golos. Golos Typeface is designed by Alexandra Korolkova and Vitaly Kuzmin for Paratype in 2019.
The book is 100×190 mm and consists of 192 pages. Also it has an open spine. The book layout is pretty simple and the font size used is 12 pt. Such size of a book and font were chosen to highlight the idea of small toys that fit in a hand.
In the first chapter information about context, idea, and research objective is described. Second chapter observes a place and a master who created a craft. Also it covers a long and complicated way of creating toys. In the next chapter people can learn about the process of creation: modeling, painting, and firing. Further in a book masters and their works are described. In the next (main chapter) all the toys are presented in a categorized way. Some of the toy categories are animals, people, birds.
