This collection of Spanish Rioja wine bottles designed by Maba represents a magical vision of the phenomena that surround it. Paranormal, selected as brand name for the wine, is a name full of personality, which leads to a unique ideology of strange and amazing phenomena. The graphic based on an ancient graphic universe, in which culture was filled with myths, strange beliefs and fabulous anecdotes that were collected in mystical books, creating delicious visual narratives. From the books of alchemy to old codices, the style of the most precious engravings has been the inspiration for this design, in which even the typefaces are worked with an aged and imprecise aspect, of manual printing.

The search for surprise and timeless elegance were the objective of the project, full of anecdotes and phenomena that made it more special and interesting. A classic but renewed wine, for a sophisticated interaction and full of irony at the same time.

One of the the challenges for this project was the selection of the different phenomena, with an ironic touch to get the mystery a sufficient level but at the same time attractive has been one of the great challenges of work. The illustrations in digital engraving, for an appropriate reduction and perfect fit of the shadows has been another difficulty to overcome in the final project.

The wine family includes Bordeaux and Burgundy Bottles, that makes more dynamic and interesting. The production of the label is Avery Dennison Cotton paper label with high relief, stamping and varnish strokes.

This project was developed for Bodegas Barón, a traditional family company with rooted wine tradition of almost 400 years together with the purest vanguard investing on the image, quality and innovation. Concepts endorsed by their designations of origin: Manzanilla – Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Jerez – Xérès – Sherry, Jerez Vinegar And Brandy from Jerez.
