SafeStep is a smart cane specifically designed for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease. This innovative device combines functionality, safety, and technology to provide users with greater autonomy while offering peace of mind to their families and caregivers.
The cane is equipped with a real-time GPS tracking system that allows the user’s location to be monitored at all times—an essential feature in cases of disorientation or wandering, which are common among individuals with this condition. Additionally, it includes a pulse meter that continuously monitors the user’s heart rate, helping to detect any health-related irregularities. This data is synced with a mobile application, enabling family members to stay informed about the user’s physical condition anytime and from anywhere.
SafeStep has also been thoughtfully designed with comfort and ease of use in mind. It features an adjustable strap that fits securely around the user’s arm, providing greater stability and reducing the risk of falls. At its base, the cane includes an automatic light that activates through motion sensors, illuminating the user’s path in low-light conditions or at night—significantly increasing safety.
The mobile app associated with SafeStep allows caregivers to define safe zones and receive alerts if the user exits those areas. It also provides access to historical health and location data. In this way, the integrity of the older adult is protected while also easing the anxiety of loved ones by offering a reliable and user-friendly tool.
For this reason, this product can also be used by anyone who requires support in their personal care—such as individuals with degenerative conditions that affect neurological, cardiac, or mobility functions—since it allows them to share their location and general health information with family members or trusted contacts.
Overall, SafeStep represents a comprehensive solution that blends advanced technology with empathy and care, promoting a safer, more independent, and dignified life for seniors living with Alzheimer’s.
