The Tanglin Gin Singapore Moonshine packaging design takes you on a journey into unique Singapore traditions, stories and craft distilling. In this engaging packaging design, you are introduced to Illicit Samsu, the original Singapore Moonshine from the 1930s, secretly distilled in the Singapore Jungle from dusk till dawn to escape detection. Almost a century later, Tanglin Gin decided to revisit the popular Singapore Moonshine. The design captures the spirit of making Moonshine in the Jungle with its lush green tropical environment and vintage design cues to elevate its historic nature.

The front label design maintains the Tanglin Gin’s core brand logo, and to complement the core brand elements, we created a unique label shape inspired by the iconic Tanglin Gate that can be found at the main entrance to the Singapore Botanical Gardens.

The custom illustration was created to bring the jungle to a bottle. The greenery grows throughout the label, and within the illustration, you can discover a native Singaporean Monkey, Snake, and the iconic Hornbill Bird. We also feature the historic barrels used to make the traditional Moonshine and place them hidden in the jungle just as they would have been all those years ago. Both sides of the bottle feature text, with one side suggesting the perfect serve and the other telling the product’s story.

The use of metallic was selected to deliver a high contrast to the black label base while giving an overall shine (like moonlight) to this premium spirit drink. The combination of colours is balanced and displays strong shelf standout, brand and packaging recall.

The final designs not only showcase the final packaging designs but also displays a rigorous refinement process from illustration and design to the production of finished art to produce a high standards finish for our client.
