Onitsuka Tiger Vietnam Exclusive Bag: Heritage with Innovation

I had the opportunity to work with Onitsuka Tiger, the largest sports fashion brand in Japan, to create a tote bag honoring Vietnam on the occasion of the brand’s launch in the Vietnamese market at the end of 2019.

Onitsuka Tiger offered me to create a bag that is sustainable, environmentally friendly, and preserves the culture of Vietnam. The bag is a cross between fashion and sport, heritage with innovation.

Based on some of Vietnam’s most iconic symbols, this high-quality bag pursues minimalist designs with maximum style. More than just fashion, the Onitsuka Tiger limited edition bag is designed for versatility, appropriate for street style, and various activities.

The design on the bag is a combination of geometric shape elements adapted from symbols bearing the imprint and identity of Vietnam, finished with embroidery on fabric to honor the tradition and be friendly to the environment.

The unique tiger pattern creates a strong and eloquent feeling but becomes lighter when placed on the fabric material. Orange, yellow are the main colors of the bag inspired by French architecture stretching from South to North, namely orange of tile roof and yellow of wall array, green is the secondary color., representing the magnificent nature of Vietnam.

The bag is a combination of traditional embroidery techniques with the signature bag design of the Onitsuka Tiger brand. All create a unique feature for this exclusive product.

Currently, Onitsuka Tiger not only focuses on sneaker production but also launches more diverse and eye-catching collections of clothing and accessories. The brand focuses on exploiting both contemporary and modern cultural features to incorporate into fashion.
