Mochi ice cream, a beloved Japanese confection crafted from rice flour, takes center stage in the visual representation of the packaging. It features a soft and chewy rice cake exterior, known as mochi, enveloping a creamy and flavorful ice cream core. The result is a harmonious fusion of textures and flavors that is not only visually appealing but also incredibly satisfying. Mochi ice cream comes in a variety of flavors, ranging from matcha to exotic fruit options, making it a universally cherished treat.

The design reflects the gentleness in both flavor and appearance of the mochi, achieved through the use of an inner shadow technique. To represent the array of flavors, four core colors were chosen. The design of the Japanese ice cream fest mochi is also showcased, where anyone interested can sample the renowned dessert. A font was even created from mochi, resembling a partially bitten treat. The text layout is styled after Japanese posters, paying homage to the birthplace of this famous dessert.

This project, undertaken in pursuit of my master’s degree in Art Direction at HSE Art and Design School, has been a transformative journey. It has served as a significant catalyst for expanding my creative horizons and enhancing my design skills. Throughout this process, I’ve had the privilege of benefiting from the guidance and support of dedicated industry professionals.
