Student Cali Martin Concept – Masters of the Craft Series

A beer series highlighting the brewing techniques mastered by KPU brewing students.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers the only brewing diploma program in British Columbia, a two-year diploma in Brewing and Brewery Operations. This program is the first in Canada to receive a standard of excellence in brewing education from the accredited Master Brewers Association. With dozens of awards to its credit since its debut in 2014, the KPU Brewing program has most recently been recognized as the “BC Brewery of the Year” in 2019. KPU’s Langley campus houses the onsite, two-hectolitre pilot brewery, which facilitates the program.

The Brewing and Brewing Operations program currently operates a successful “Brew Lab” that provides visitors tours of the brewery and sales of the several types of beer crafted on site.

The Masters of the Craft Series is a celebration of the creativity and ingenuity of brewing students in the KPU Brewing program. Through our commitment to hands-on learning at KPU, our brewing program has been able to cultivate a community of exceptional brewers who are dedicated to the craft and committed to excellence. From traditional techniques to cutting-edge methods, our students gain a comprehensive understanding of the brewing process that sets them apart from their peers. Each beer in the series is an opportunity for talented student brewers to showcase their unique perspective and the innovative brewing techniques they have learned through the KPU brewing program.

This series is proud to feature diverse ranges of beers that highlight the creativity and artistry of these students. From barrel-aged sours and wild yeast ales to hop-forward IPAs and experimental blends, each beer in the series is a tribute to the hard work and dedication that our students bring to the craft of brewing quality beer.

But the Masters of the Craft Series isn’t just about great beer – it’s about community, collaboration, and the power education has to transform lives. By showcasing the talents of current students, I hope to inspire the next generation of brewers to push the boundaries of what’s possible and create a future that’s more ‘brew’tiful than we can imagine.
