Logo design for the dancer and choreographer Giorgia Vitali, the only Italian authorised to teach and practice “Bollywaack”, the style that combines the rhythms of Bollywood music with the poses of waacking and punking, born in the 70s from the disco culture of the community LGBTQ in Los Angeles, today is back in vogue in the Big Apple. The logo had to be simple, clear, clean and above all have the right balance between classicism and modernity.
So here comes the initial of his name, the “g”, which in a sort of dance evokes a bee, a small bee, symbol and synonym of his soul, his thought, his dance, his lifestyle.Classic, modern, contemporary, and curious, these are the adjectives that the logo had to embrace, the same adjectives that characterise Giorgia Vitali’s dance style.
The inspiration of the project, and also of the lifestyle and thinking of the dancer, was a famous phrase of the Italian poet, aphorist and writer Alda Merini. “I am a furious little bee. I like to change in color. I like to change in size.” – Alda Merini “Sono una piccola ape furibonda. Mi piace cambiare di colore. Mi piace cambiare di misura.” – Alda Merini
