L’Atelier du Chef Vinaigrette Packaging Design

Human, loving and homely is the atmosphere in Belgian chef Yannick Franken’s restaurant “No.4 by Yannick” that serves upscale, sophisticated dishes to be shared “like mum’s food at home”.

When customers fell in love with his vision and very own version of vinaigrette sauce, they asked Yannick if he could “bottle” some so they could enjoy it at home. The idea grew from there – and resulted in this vinaigrette that allows fans of his cuisine to take a tiny bit of this love home with them.

When Yannick originally created this vinaigrette sauce he put all his heart into it. This true love for flavors was the starting point for our design: An abstract “sauciere” – a vinaigrette-filled sauce boat – that resembles the shape of a human heart is taking center stage on the flask.

The challenge of the vinaigrette design was to transport this warmth and sense of “homemade” with personal, crafty illustrations full of character. Different design elements tell the story of Yannicks’ life and passion for fine flavors throughout the bottle. Next to the “heart” the number “4” can be found -Yannicks personal lucky number, that has inspired the restaurant’s name. Because the gastonomer believes in the beauty of arrangements and that “you eat with your eyes first”, there is an eye to be found in the design. A flower is representing his passion for local ingredients and respectful sourcing – another very personal insight into what’s true to Yannicks heart.

As for Yannick, creating flavors is more an art than a profession, the creative feel of the inspirational design is emphasized by the wording `L’Atelier du chef´. Both, Yannick’s food creations and our design, have a strong eye for detail, which gives the gastronomy-brand its special charm.

The first small batch of production will be a range of transparent bulbous glass bottles with a black label displaying the above design. For further development we have prepared a sophistication of this design imprinted on a modern matt black stone ware bottle with nostalgic flip top closure.

The bottle will be sold in his restaurant and select shops.
