The Future of Hair Extensions: Studies show that beauty products designed for Women of Color contain significantly higher amounts of toxins and endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Although often overlooked, synthetic hair is no exception: it is made from plastic. 53% of Black women use synthetic hair on a regular basis. Every third synthetic hair user suffers from itching or scalp irritation. 67% of synthetic hair users don’t know about the harmful chemicals often used in the fibers. Kynd Hair is changing the hair extension industry one braid at a time by creating the first plant-based, hypoallergenic hair extensions, made from plants – fairly produced in Germany.

In this way founder Cosima Richardson is addressing the major problems caused by most conventional hair extensions: sustainability and health.
