Ktima Karipidis’ white wine collection expands, enriching its identity with the addition of Malagouzia, a renowned Greek grape variety. Malagousia could be considered the quintessential variety of the renaissance that modern Greek wines have undergone over the past thirty years. It embodies the way in which Greek winemakers are rediscovering their potential. Malagousia is widely regarded as a grape of international caliber, producing excellent dry white wines.
Rooted in the design principles established during our initial exploration for the whole series, the new label looks for consistency, unifying a common design language across the entire range.
As with the other labels in the series, the central motif is the stork—an emblem chosen not merely for its grace, but for the profound cultural resonance it holds in Thessaly, the birthplace of these wines. Its inclusion strengthens the visual and narrative cohesion of the collection, serving as a bridge between contemporary design and ancestral memory.
According to an ancient Thessalian legend, the land was once plagued by an overwhelming number of snakes, threatening both the safety and the very survival of its people. Salvation came from an unexpected source: flocks of storks descended upon the region and began devouring the serpents, restoring balance to the land. In gratitude, the people of Thessaly are said to have enacted a law forbidding any harm to be done to the birds—a decree rooted in reverence and protection.
This myth is not merely anecdotal, it is an enduring metaphor that underpins the identity of the entire label series with the stork, as both savior and sentinel, becoming a symbol of harmony between nature and humanity, protection and legacy. Through this recurring visual language, the wine pays tribute to its terroir, not just in taste, but in story, honoring its geographic origin.
