Welcome to the Museum of Soviet Christmas Ornaments! Here, you’ll find a fascinating collection of items from the past. These decorations were once part of many childhoods, cherished and kept as family treasures. Did you know that some of these old ornaments are now highly valued by collectors? Step inside to discover around 1300 pieces dating from before the revolution to the 1990s. From the cute Olympic bear to the classic “nevolyashki” (roly-poly toys), dolls, and much more – each item holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up in the Soviet era. At the heart of our museum’s identity are the iconic figures of Soviet Christmas ornaments – the ball, star, snow maiden, house, and spinning top. Crafted with care, these figures resemble the block lettering fonts used in newspapers of the time. Complemented by simple typography, the design pays homage to the style of the Soviet era. And with the signature red color, the museum feels like a celebration of the holiday season all year round.

This project has been an incredible journey, helping me grow as a creative. It’s been a chance to really refine my design skills. I took it on as part of my master’s degree in art direction at HSE Art and Design School. Along the way, I’ve had amazing support from industry experts.
