“Opera at the train station” is an opportunity to literally get from the train to an opera performance. This is an event in which real opera singers perform famous works at an ordinary train station.
The main task of the project was to combine seemingly two incompatible things – the opera and the train station. The solution is a symbiosis of these two concepts.
The main graphic element of the identity is an electronic scoreboard — an integral part of any train station. All of the information is built from LED dots and broadcast through it. The grid is built by analogy with the scoreboard. This allows you to scale the graphics to different formats and creates a solid image of the project.
Based on this grid, a typeset font with alternative glyphs on the theme of opera and performances was developed. Among them we can see the figures of singers, a mask, binoculars, a harp, a piano and other musical instruments that are inserted into the text in the likeness of emojis that are now popular.
The main character in the illustration is Figaro from the opera “II Barbiere di Siviglia” by Rossini. Both graphics and verbal communication are based on his image. Along with the phrases “Figaro here, Figaro there, Figaro up, Figaro Down”, Figaro himself moves, discarding all the pathos inherent in opera and encouraging everyone to attend the extraordinary event called “Opera at the train station”.
An animated video was also made to promote the event. All of the elements: red curtains, a running line, a spinning Figaro enliven the project with the aria of Figaro that was chosen as a soundtrack.
