Giac Chiem Bao is an artistic interpretation of a video essay by Spikima Movies titled “Why Are Wong Kar-wai Films So Dreamy?” which thoroughly analyzes the dreamlike quality in Wong’s filmography. Our primary focus is on the creative aspects of editorial design, using the given scripts and inspiration from the original work.
The biggest challenge in this project is capturing and recreating the essence of ‘movement’ inherently expressed in films and videography. This effect can be achieved through techniques like lenticular flip printing, scanimation printing, and various visual solutions such as the “intentional broken grid layouts”, the continuous film shots, the blurred elements, and the extensive use of white space.
