Feel the War: development of an interactive website chronology of the war in Ukraine
Feel the War is an emotional history of the war in Ukraine, created to remind foreigners that Ukraine still needs a lot of help and funds.
The project’s goal is to help foreigners experience the war without risking their lives and thus gain more foreign support, both materially and emotionally.
Idea
At the beginning of the war, we immediately decided we would help Ukraine. We donated money to the Ukrainian armed forces and volunteer organizations, closed all channels of cooperation with russia, and spread information about the war among our clients and acquaintances.
However, we wanted to do more and get more support from all over the world.
We came up with the idea to develop an English website that gathers all the news in one emotional story and shows the world what a real war looks like. And how hard to be in the epicenter of the events. That is how Feel the War appeared.
Background
We analyzed news and created the concept of the site.
We decided to divide the website’s pages into months to allow visitors easily find specific events or dates. At the end of each month’s page, we added general official statistics, which help grasp the full scale of the tragedy.
Content
The content creation stage was divided into gathering and systematizing information, storytelling and copywriting. We chose the most extensive news from official resources and selected relevant and reliable media materials for each event. Then we moved on to storytelling and copywriting. Our task was to present our story emotionally, consistently, and logically. And we did it.
Implementation
All design was made in Figma, and Readymag was chosen as a service to develop it. The primary colors on the website are red, black, and white. The emphasis of each site block should have been both on the text and the media. We successfully implemented it in design. We also created animations that reinforced the entire emotional spectrum of the project.
Mission
The project’s mission is to raise funds for Ukrainian aid, so special attention was paid to the support section. It took us a long time to decide which organization should be involved in our project. As a result, the project has a page where you can donate to the Serhiy Prytula Foundation, which is proven and known worldwide after fundraising for Bayraktars in 2 days.
Result
We created a unique website that shows Ukraine-russia war history from this point of view for the first time. Within a week of launching, the project had received 4400 unique visits, 400 clicks to the Prytula Foundation’s page, reposts, and likes from Ukrainian celebrities.
