Demente Aguardientería is a unique new bar and restaurant concept in Bogotá, Colombia that seeks to promote life in neighborhoods that are not traditionally located in the “famous” and often exclusive gastronomic areas of the city. Demente Aguardientería is a tour of all the popular and graphic icons of Colombia that remind us of our true unpretentious essence.
“Demente” is somehow a car trip with family or friends. It is a constant tour of our land that we evidence with a brand universe that takes inspiration from all those trucks that travel throughout the country every day, connecting the ingredients of the countryside with the cities. We created a brand that is based on the popular languages that adorn the market squares, buses and corner stores across the country.
Many times as Colombians we forget our culture and history, and we tend to look at other countries, cultures and cuisines with much more respect and admiration. We forget about here, our own. We give any importance to everything that makes Colombia a country full of wealth, magic and authenticity.
That is why Demente Aguardientería was born, a space that brings together all those nostalgic flavors that remind us daily that this country is “demented” (Demente). The famous cocktails in English are not celebrated here, nor are the inpronounceable dishes of European haute cuisine, nor the street food from some remote place. What is celebrated here is the “aguardiente” (Anise Liqour) from each of our regions, the corn with which iconic dishes such as the arepa and the empanada are created, and above all the dishes that are in our collective memory, regardless of the economic class, the race or age. It is living our popular culture authentically and finding wealth in the everyday life.
