Clos du Val 50th Anniversary Blanc de Noirs Packaging and Logo Design

Following the successful redesign of their multi-tiered portfolio of wines, Clos du Val re-engaged CF Napa Brand Design to create a new celebratory offering – their 50th Anniversary Blanc de Noirs. The Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine design needed to maintain the timeless integrity of the Clos du Val wine brand while signaling a new era, as the next generation of the Goelet family takes the reins of this legendary winery.

CF Napa Brand Design took a more unique and modern approach to the sparkling wine label design, setting the Clos du Val brand name in a sans serif font, boldly at the front and center of the package. A gold foil diamond pattern forms the numbers 72 and 22 – representing the founding year of the winery (1972) and the current year, the year of the 50th anniversary (2022). Gold foil details are utilized across the label — a fitting touch for a label meant to celebrate a golden anniversary. The bottle follows the recent trend of forgoing the use of a capsule which allows the gold muselet to shine and complement the gold foil on the label. Overall, the wine label has a contemporary, fashion-forward feel which builds off the brand’s French California promise.

This special, wine club exclusive release marks the beginning of the next chapter for Clos du Val, celebrating their long history – “Une histoire d’amour, our fifty year love story” – while looking ahead to the next 50 years.

From the winery: “In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we crafted a sparkling Blanc de Noirs using the Méthode Champenoise, AKA the traditional Champagne method. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cool Carneros region of Napa Valley, this wine is crisp, vibrant, and incredibly fresh with enticing flavors of lemon, honeysuckle, and apricot. This is the only sparkling wine Clos du Val will ever produce.”
