Olde Raleigh Distillery, out of Zebulon, North Carolina, engaged CF Napa Brand Design to design the logo, packaging and custom bottle for their new distillery, Whiskey Society membership and flagship line of whiskies. The spirit packaging would need to reflect the exceptional quality and scarcity of their hand-crafted, small-batch expression, luxury whiskies and evoke the sensibilities of an old school whiskey club.
CF Napa Brand Design created a bespoke faceted bottle inspired by antique crystal decanters – once empty, the imbiber has a memento that can continue to be used to serve quality spirits. Hand-drawn typography for the wordmark reinforced the artisanal sensibility of the packaging. The intricate seal for the distillery and their Whiskey Society membership, modelled after the seals of historic private clubs and secret societies, was embossed into the base of the bottle. This glass cartouche is shown off with every pour of the bottle. The gold metal coin that sits atop the dark wood closure – also emblazoned with a brass patina stamp of the Whiskey Society seal – is a homage to challenge coins and the Master Blender’s tenure in the United States Air Force. Each label includes the batch number and a unique bottle number to strengthen the brand’s promise of exclusivity. The label’s minty green hue and gold foil band detail formed the quirky final touches to this truly unique whiskey brand packaging.
