Ðồi Ðá came to CF Napa Brand Design to create the logo and packaging design for their new high-end Cabernet Sauvignon. The brand name, Ðồi Ðá, is Vietnamese for “Rocky Hill” and was inspired by the rock-strewn landscape of the previously undeveloped vineyard site. It was imperative that the design captured the rugged beauty of the property and paid homage to the brand owner’s Vietnamese heritage while staying true to the wine’s Napa Valley origins.

Wine Information:
Deep ruby in color, the 2022 Doi Da Cabernet Sauvignon wine is crafted from grapes from Oakville and Rutherford vineyards. Aromas of raspberry jam, red cherry, Persian mulberry, and currant, with notes of tobacco leaf, sage, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cocoa powder, greet the imbiber’s nose. On the palate, red fruits like cherry, raspberry, currant, and cranberry mingle with savory hints of tobacco and mocha. This wine is both acid and fruit-driven, offering a refreshing, elegant take on a wine from regions typically known for more opulent bottlings. It pairs wonderfully with Cơm tấm (broken rice), reflecting its food-friendly nature and Vietnamese culinary heritage.

Inspired by the style of Vietnamese landscape artwork, CF Napa Brand Design commissioned a pen and ink style illustration of the Ðồi Ðá estate featuring the namesake rocky hill amongst the vines. The Vietnamese influence was further reflected in the debossed monogram icon and in the pop of red for the vintage date; these details complemented the crisp wordmark and heavy-textured cotton paper to create a look of timeless luxury synonymous with Napa Valley wines.
