First and foremost, for those who are not Brazilian, let me briefly introduce Péricles. To Brazilians, feel free to skip this first paragraph, as Péricles needs no introduction! Here we go! Péricles was one of the founders of Exaltasamba (1989), a viral pagode group in Brazil. With over 36 years in the industry, he is one of the leading figures in samba and pagode in the country, undoubtedly the best vocalist.
My challenge was immense. A vibrant, joyful, and diverse atmosphere characterized this tour, and when tasked with translating these emotions into design, we knew that colors would play a pivotal role.
To materialise these values and create a flexible visual system for the event’s numerous applications, I opted for an organic language rich in color. Graphics became the centerpiece of this key visual, used in various forms, all of them original and handcrafted. Continuing with this concept, a typographically diverse logo was created.
After all design studies and decisions were made, it was time to get to work. Starting from Péricles’ current logo, I extracted some shapes to honor his history. These forms were crafted digitally, testing brushes, proportions, and colours until achieving a result brimming with personality and joy. The principles of balance, contrast, and readability were present at every stage of the creative process.
