The Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital, as part of its environmental policy, has been developing a set of projects that aim to contribute to the enhancement of the environment and the promotion of sustainability.
It is the goal of the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital to promote measures that meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and specifically the Environmental Policy, by investing in education for sustainable development, providing citizens with environmental skills in an ongoing process that promotes participatory citizenship and calls for the accountability of all, in order to protect and improve the Environment in all its human dimension.

The Project RecolhaBiOH, funded by the Environmental Fund, continues the work that has been developed by the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital in the promotion of sustainability, promoting the recovery of bio-waste and contributing to changing habits and more sustainable behaviors.

Bio-waste represents about 40% of undifferentiated waste, which is sent to landfill, so it is urgent to separate it at source, meeting the provisions of paragraph b) of paragraph 2 of Article 36 of Decree-Law No. 102-D/2020 of 10 December, which provides that the selective collection of bio-waste is carried out until 31 December 2023.

On World Environment Day, the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital launched the project “recolhaBiOH” through which it will distribute home composters to citizens living in the municipality.
A project that aims to promote the recovery of bio-waste and the change of habits and more sustainable behaviors.
