Branding and Naming of Armenian Gin Vogis

Branding and Naming of Armenian Gin Vogis

Trying gin for the first time in London, scientist Vardan Yavruyan decided to get a gin recipe using juniper fruits growing exclusively in the Armenian Highlands. Later, the younger generation of the scientist’s family found the recipe for making gin in scientific documents and started to make drinks with a new spirit.

The naming and branding were inspired from this story. Hence, we called it VOGIS, which means “spirit” in Armenian. Since gin was once sold in pharmacies as a medicinal substance, the bottle’s label resembles a tincture, which to some extent conveys the impression of a healing substance. Still, due to its modern approach and juniper illustration, it has a beautiful appearance. The product stands out on the store and bar shelves increasing the consumers’ interest in the gin.

Our task was to brand a product for the international market. However, it was challenging for us to brand an international and competitive alcohol packaging via compromising the client budget and the technical capabilities of local printing houses. We have successfully overcome the difficulties and branded a product that gained very positive feedback from the local and regional markets so far.
