Brand identity for Refugios, a company dedicated to the architecture and construction of small eco-cabins from biodegradable and recycled materials around different areas of Ecuador. Refugios seeks to be a contact with the essential, a space that evokes the reconnection and symbiosis between nature and humans. A space for rest, a space to heal the mind, to benefit and benefit nature. A pause in the chaos, a space to breathe and disconnect. A space to recharge and start over.
Through basic design elements, we seek to transmit the simplicity and ease of nature. We developed a warm, cozy and harmonious identity through organic shapes, textures, color palette and strong typographic combinations, all inspired by nature and Refugios architectural work.
In Spanish, the word Refugios means “shelters”, which turned to the main word that we wanted to communicate through the logotype design. The typographic logo has been delicately cured so the detail of the letter “R” can be interpreted as a roof or ceiling – the main visual extraction from a shelter – and also a mountain – the representation of nature-.
It’s brand identity is accompanied with different textures and organic shapes, purely inspired by nature, like wood, grass, the shapes of the mountains that surround the eco-cabins, or the recycled materials used for the constructions. The palette color was also inspired to convey the closeness of nature through a monochrome palette of greens. Finally, for merchandise objects and stationary, we worked with recycled materials so the essence of the brand can be transmitted in all of its expressions.
