Biosensu is an environmental consultancy focused on managing environmental projects within the demands of engineering, industries, operations in contaminated areas and issues related to environmental licensing. The company also helps to conserve species and habitats, through its fauna monitoring projects, management of urban green areas, ecological risk assessments, among others, always prioritizing technical rigor in the execution of its projects.
The company is located in São Paulo, Brazil and in 2022 turns 10 years of existence. To celebrate this date, they asked me to redesign the visual identity, looking for a more modern and flexible brand than the old one that could put the company on the same visual level as the big national and global competitors.
The attributes that needed to be present in the identity were: modern, series, sophisticated and organic, and the use of green was also requested (which ended up breaking up into a chromatic palette with various shades of green).
The solution was to design a symbol and a typography with a strong enough personality to be used together or separately and then, in addition, aesthetically refer to the company’s segment: environmental consultancy / nature / leaf. The design of the symbol arises from the junction of the design of a leaf + letter B (the company’s initial), with an organic aesthetic and a striking feature that are some well-rounded endings and others more straight. This feature inspired the design of the typography, a sans serif that was designed exclusively for e Biosensu and that has enough personality to be used without the symbol. The same visual characteristic is present in some pieces of stationery, such as the business card, envelope, etc.
After the refinement, I created the branding variations, defined the chromatic palette, supporting typography and also created a set of patterns. An exclusive family of icons was also created for the company’s services, which are: Environmental Licensing, Management Plans, Fauna Survey and Monitoring, Plant Characterization, Monitored Environmental Recovery, Pollutant Emission and Transfer Report, Ecological Risk Assessment and Reports and Chemical Safety Documents. Each of these services was represented with its own icon and an aesthetic based on the brand’s symbol, both in shapes and colors. With all these assets in hand, the prototyping images were created, which were part of the presentation to the client.
The company is currently implementing the project in print and digital media and intends (in the near future) to produce many of the materials that are in the presentation images. Biosensu: more than an environmental consulting company, a permanent search for unique solutions for a better world.
