Carolina De Alba – The Tell-Tale Heart
Book jacket design for Edgar Allan Poe’s famous story, “The Tell-Tale Heart”. The cover art illustrates the lead character’s struggle at the end of the story. The surreal image was carved and printed using hand tools and a linoleum block. The typographic treatment suggests the beating of a human heart by the way one reads each word on the different lines. The austere color palette remains true to the tradition of linocut printmaking. Overall, the design reflects the true essence of Poe’s short story.
