The world best gin – double distilled

The award-winning Stig Bareksten is a highly-distinguished master-distiller and co-founder of Oss Craft Distillery, situated in Bergen, Kind, which is behind the Bareksten brand and his signature line, has developed the design for a new addition to Bareksten unique product range, Double Gin.

Bareksten represents the essence of Norway, both in taste and character; dark, wild and dramatic while being gentle and refined. This was reflected in the design of the main series with its black matte bottles with glossy lacquered illustrations of the ancient Norwegian forest landscape.

It was important to bring out the soul of “Double Gin” with its lighter, clean and fresh taste and clearly distinguish it from the rest of the series. To bring out the bare cleanness of the flavour, we replaced the black matte bottles with clear glass to give a hint of the pure contents which is distilled two times. This way, Double Gin appears naked and pure compared to the rest.

The bottle is surrounded by silk print forest landscapes reminiscent of the raw material origin and underpins belonging to Bareksten brand. Refraction in the clear glass gives the forest a three-dimensional effect, which further brings out the feeling of mystery and wildness. The cork is untreated, light oak, which creates a lighter, bare, and natural expression.

The connection with the other Bareksten products is highlighted through the ambigram and logotype, which is at the center of the design. The label shares the layout with the rest of the series and is inspired by old vials. Through these design choices, Bareksten Double Gin has become a unique bottle, that independently tells its own, mystical story.
