Bayab is a bold gin from a vibrant continent whose distillery sits in the midlands, a beautiful region in Kwazulu-Natal that stretches from the Mooi River all the way to the foothills of the Drakenberg Mountains.

The best-tasting gin hails only from the best ingredients and natural environment that nature has to offer. Infused with South African Baobab Fruit this is a Classic Dry Gin, handcrafted and lovingly distilled in traditional copper stills in South Africa. Bayab combines the natural beauty of the South African continent and its people to create this unique gin – African Grown gin.

Bayab’s new design elevates the message that their gins are distilled using locally grown botanicals. The look and feel is contemporary and simple, supported by bold colours that communicate the uniquely South African botanicals and flavours.

The sharp edges of the logotype, the angles on the A’s, the mirrored symmetry and the inner line on the logo, have all been inspired by Zulu patterns and traditional South African typography.

We have created ownable patterns, used unique foils and colours that exemplify the vibrant people and surrounds of Bayab’s distillery.

The dotted pattern that gives Bayab’s label it’s distinctive look takes inspiration from Bayab’s unique lead botanical – the Baobab fruit which hails from Zambia and Madagascar. The Baobab fruit sits at the heart of the gin, so it sits at the heart of the design and the brand roundel.

We use natural paper stock and blind embossing techniques on the label gives the bottle an earthy, textured feel.

The master-brand design palette works across the range of gins but also drives differentiation on the shelf.

Bayab is the second spirit in this distilleries African journey. They plan to travel through Africa, starting in the South, and produce amazing spirits from the countries they visit. The distillery will travel to different countries, produce different flavours and share different stories, so keep an eye out for the next liquid.
