Visual Identity and Packaging Design for Norwegian Food Brand

Visual Identity and Packaging Design for Norwegian Food Brand

By Kristin / Kristin David-Andersen – Sorgenfri Mat

“The client is the new norwegian food brand Sorgenfri Mat. They serve vegetarian soups and the name Sorgenfri Mat means Free of Sorrow Food which is just about what the food brand serves. It is easy, healthy and tastes very good.

Sorgenfri Mat is inspired by many trips to India and their amazing spice markets. The soups consist of spices from India which together with Norwegian ingredients are composed in both Indian and Norwegian tradition.

It was very interesting for me to work on this project since I have visited India multiple times before, and I love the south east Asian food and spices in addition to being norwegian. The client wanted me to use my inspiration from India and implement it to the design together with norwegian, scandinavian minimalism.

While working on the project I have had a lot of freedom when it came to packaging, color palette and the visual. The colors play together and give the expression of Indian spice markets, healthy free of sorrow food and easy, simple everyday kind of food. The colorful and clean visual identity of Sorgenfri Mat reflects its purpose – to serve a healthy, warm and easy meal. The packaging is made from 100 % recycled cardboard and the cutlery is compostable.”
